Water absorptiveness - Cobb testing

What is absorption?

Absorption

Absorption is the ability of paper or paperboard to take up and retain fluids.

It’s important to know how much fluid a material can absorb. For example, it’s important to know the absorption capacity of toilet paper. Usually it is assumed, the more layers the better.

With an absorption tester the different types of toilet paper can be tested to see if one absorbs more than the other. An universale tensile (UTM) tester can measure the strength of the material.
